Rollers & Handstanders

Girls' Rollers is an introductory beginner class. The class consists of a 10 minute warm-up followed by four, 10 minute rotations on Bars, Beam, Vault and Floor Exercise. We will do a little Tumble Trak (a long trampoline) and a conditioning game to finish the class. The curriculum has been designed to engage the gymnasts in a wide variety of skills while still having the time for review and extra fun stuff.

Handstanders are a little stronger and have some experience with the basics. We strive for better gymnastic positions and more flexibility in this class. The handstand is the most important skill in all of gymnastics and therefore more time will be spent doing handstands on all of the events.

Boy's Beginner: All inexperienced boys will begin at this level where they will learn the basics on all six events: Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and the High bar. With the incredible variety of skills being worked on your gymnast will develop strength throughout their body enabling them to advance to more difficult skills.

Fees

  • Rollers & Handstanders
    (Beginners)
  • $240 per session
  • 1 hr. class
  • 1x per week
  • 2x per week - $360 per session

Cartwheelers & Backbenders

Girls' Cartwheelers: At this level, the gymnasts should be learning handstand forward rolls and cartwheels with straight legs that kick directly overhead. They will greatly expand their skill base on all events, start using the bigger beams, and begin to pull over onto the bars without assistance.

Girls' Backbenders: As the name suggests, we focus on backbends and front limbers at this level, as well as round offs and a large assortment of other tumbling skills. On beam we teach a larger variety of jumps and leaps as well as handstands and dismounts. On bars, we begin swinging, doing hip circles on bars, and on vault we start rebounding strongly from the spring boards.

Boys' Advanced Beginner: At this level, boys should have developed the strength to triple the amount of skills they were able to attempt safely in beginner class. Basic swing is mastered on apparatus, and increasing speed and power is the main focus. A strong handstand at this level is the key to advancement.

Walkovers

Girls' Walkovers: Both front and back walkovers as well as continued improvement on round offs are the focus at this level. Handsprings are also introduced. Small routines will be taught at this level. Cast shoot throughs, stride circles, and sole circles will hopefully be acquired on bars. Beam will have a lot of handstands, jumps and leaps. Cartwheels on the beam will be introduced at this level.

Boys' Intermediate: At this level, the boys are ready to start flipping on most of the events. There will be a good amount of strength training done to give them the opportunity to be strong enough to continue progressing. Ages in this class range from 8 – 16 on average, but no matter what the age they work well together since they are all hungry to learn more.

Handspringers

Girls' Handspringers: This is the former Advanced Intermediate Class and it is the top level class in our girls' class program. From here it is off to the Competitive Team. Many of these girls will come two times per week as they are now strong enough to really expand their skill base. Gymnastics really gets fun at this level due to the large number of skills worked and the speed of improvement. Flipping is worked on in many areas.
